While many may feel that the life of a celebrity is a bed of roses, may do not know that the dark reality is that it’s a throne of thorns. Many of the famous celebrities who could not take this pressure succumbed to the difficulties in life and made the wrong decision. In this article, we have mentioned some of the celebrities who committed suicide, and their story ended in a wrong way.

Just because they live a lavish life, does not mean that celebrities do not face problems in their personal life. Their suicide gave a huge blow to film fraternity and all their fans.

1. Robin Williams

The first name to our list of celebrities that committed suicide is our beloved comedian, Williams, who took his own life on August 11, 2014. He was thought to have suffered from depression. He hung himself at the ripe age of 63. He was a multi-talented person who was a stand-up comedian as well as an actor.

He was also credited to be the father of San Francisco’s comedy renaissance. He always believed in improvisation, and he did great films like ‘Good Morning, Vietnam,’ ‘Dead Poets Society’ and ‘Awakenings.’ He also won an Academy Award for the Best Supporting Role in Good Will Hunting in 1997. He also won Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

2. Mindy McCready


The great country artist killed herself with a self-inflicted gunshot in February 2013. Before this final attempt, she had tried to kill herself twice in the past. At the time of her death, she was a mother of two, and her kids were under foster care. She was active in the music industry till the time of her death that is when she was aged 37 years.

Although she succeeded well in her career, her personal life and suicide attempts gave her a lot of coverage in media. She started singing at a young age of three. Her death was reported by her neighbors when they heard repeated gunshots. She was found dead on the front porch, which was the same place where her former boyfriend was found dead too.

3. Kurt Cobain


Cobain shocked the music fraternity when he killed himself at a young age of 27 with a gun. The Nirvana lead singer, who was a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and poet, suffered from excess heroin addiction, depression, and chronic health issues during his last days. His fame turned into a death trap for him as he could not handle the peer pressure and the undue attention of the media. He shot himself to death in his head and died on the spot.

4. Tony Scott

Before jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge at the Los Angeles Harbor, Scott left his friends and family a note stating his reason for suicide, on the sad evening of 19 August 2012. Along with them, the film industry too was in a deep shock. His top accomplishment as a director includes ‘Top Gun’ and ‘True Romance.’

Throughout his career, he directed a variety of films right from action psychological thriller like The Fan and romantic dark comedy crime film like Beverly Hills Cop II.

5. Jovan Belcher

The Kansas City Chief’s Linebacker had a horrible death when he shot himself dead before his coach and general manager at his team headquarters. He did this only after he shot his girlfriend dead. He had a bright career in sports right from the time of his schooling.

At the time of his death, he also had a three months old baby with his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins whom he shot before her mother. It was a horrific tragedy for all football lovers.

6. Lucy Gordon

Best known for her role in Spiderman 3, Serendipity and The Four Feathers, this British actress amazed everyone with her beauty and talent. Sadly she decided to end her life on 20 May 2009. Her last film was Gainsbourg, in which she played the role of singer and actress Jane Birkin, she was found hanging in her flat in Paris, and she was only 28 years old back then.

7. Don Cornelius

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Cornelius was best known as the host and producer of the show ‘Soul Train’ which he hosted from 1971 to 1993. After having earned fame and name from the show, Cornelius decided to sell the show to MadVision Entertainment in 2008.

On the fateful day of February 1, 2012, Cornelius was found dead in his home after cops broke into his house when they heard gunshots. He shot himself in the head. It is said that he suffered from declining health and suffered multiple seizures caused by an old aneurysm.

8. Gia Allemand

A young, 29 years old model and former suitor on The Bachelor hanged herself to death on 14 August 2013. She was dating an NBA player, Ryan Anderson, during her last days and was even kept on life support for two days before she breathed her last.

She was a participant in two reality shows ‘The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love’ and ‘Bachelor Pad.’ She shot to fame when she first appeared on the cover of Maxim, and she had also won Miss Bikini USA’s Model of the Year award in 2008.

She started her career as a model at a very young age, even as a kid she featured in baby ads for brands like Johnson & Johnson and Gerber Baby.

9. Chris Benoit

A Canadian professional wrestler took his own life but in a horrible way beyond imagination. Former WWE champion strangled his wife and his seven-year-old son to death and then killed himself by hanging on the 24th of June 2007.

He was only 40 years old at that time. It was shocking news for all that an entire family was dead within minutes.

10. L’Wren Scott

The fashionista and American stylist killed herself on March 17, 2014. She was also the former girlfriend of Mick Jagger which was also her longest relationship. Sadly it did not end well. She was 49 years old when she was found dead in her Manhattan apartment following a period of grave depression.
