Just a drop of tea tree oil on the pimple or whitehead removes them instantly. It is an excellent alternative to benzoyl peroxide. This may be too strong for some and so use just a pinch of it on the Q-tip then dab the tip with some more oil and apply it to the affected area. In case the concoction is still too strong for you then you can try mixing tea tree oil with some water and then apply it. This is an expensive but effective solution.

2. Benzoyl Peroxide

In case you are looking for a cheaper and artificial solution for tea tree oil, then try Benzoyl Peroxide 5 percent, which works best for acne and whiteheads. It has a unique ability to unclog your pores and then erase out the dirt from them. It also has anti-bacterial powers, which effectively kills the bacteria. Five percent is just enough for whiteheads; other stronger concentrations are required for other reasons.

3. Salicylic Acid and Retinoid creams

Just like benzoyl peroxide, these two creams also work effectively to treat whiteheads. Salicylic acid does not clean the pores, but instead by slowing the process of the shedding of follicles; it prevents the occurrence of whiteheads in the first place. While Retinoid cream, on the other hand, helps in cell turnover and unclogging of pores as it contains a lot of Vitamin A.

4. Heat to remove white heads

In the case of some stubborn whiteheads, heat does the job. Many times squeezing also does not help, and it is just too painful to bear, so in this situation, heat comes to your rescue. Heat can effectively open the pores and easily give way for the dirt and extra oil to ooze out of the pores, leaving it clean and the skin smooth.

For this take a big bowl of hot water and lower your face closer to the water. Cover your head with a towel now and let the face skin breathe some steam. Once the heat has set in, now just scrub the affected areas, and you can feel the white heads coming out. To close the pores once again wash your face with a mild cleanser and cold water. This is the cheapest and most natural way on how to get rid of whiteheads.

5. Homemade remedies

Some of the items easily available in the kitchen and that come in handy to get rid of white heads are honey, lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. The citric acid in both lemon juice and apple cider vinegar is an effective way to kill white heads. Take one of the two ingredients and dilute it with water, in a 50-50 proportion.

Now damp a cotton ball in it and apply it on the affected areas. Apply this mixture only on the affected area and now all across your face, unless your skin is too oily. Also, do not overdo this remedy as you may only end up drying your skin.

For those with extra dry skin, they can try honey. Honey has great bacteria fighting properties, and it is gentle on the skin.  For those who are worried about damage to their dry skin because of harsh chemicals, try a mask of honey all across the face and leave it for a while before you rinse it. After you wash your face, you will surely feel the difference in your skin texture, because honey makes your skin softer and gentler.

Treating white heads also have a lot to do with your routine lifestyle and hygiene methods. Sleep and diet methods matter a lot. Get enough sleep and a good healthy diet. Also, change your pillowcase regularly to stay away from dirt and dead skin accumulated over there. Before you sleep, make sure you take out the make-up.

To remove your make-up use natural coconut oil, instead of harsh makeup removers, which will further damage your facial skin. Oil is the best make-up remover. After applying oil, rub your face in a circular motion with the tip of your fingers. Then wash your face with gentle soap and cold water. This will prove to be a big step in avoiding white heads in the long run.
